How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation.  Isaiah 52:7

Today hope came to a desperate Mama in the mountains in rural Guatemala.  Today comfort came to a hurting Father who was so burdened by the sicknesses of his children.  Today, we were blessed with the opportunity to deliver good news that we were able to help provide medical care for these precious babies.  I witnessed the tears of this Mama leaving behind 6 other children and her husband to leave with our team to accept care for her babies.  I saw the fear in her eyes as we walked away from her home and all she ever knew.  I assured her that she was making the best decision possible for her little ones suffering from malnutrition, probable pneumonia, and skin infections.  I was saddened to learn that this family had already lost 3 children to disease and malnutrition.

The poverty and desperation that we witness on a daily basis here in Guatemala never stops tugging at my heart.  I don’t know what it means to live in fear of my children dying because I don’t have enough food or medicine for my babies when they get sick.  I can’t begin to imagine what this family had experienced or how they were feeling today as we drove away from their village. On the ride back to Hope of Life today, I could not help feeling thankful.  I am so thankful to God that we arrived in time to help these babies, and I am so grateful for the courage this family had to accept help for these children.

It was a good day in the mountains today because one family was given hope for a better future.  Two children now have a chance to grow and thrive.  We are so thankful for faithful friends and partners that make these baby rescues possible.  With the healing love of Jesus, the amazing care of our staff at St. Lukes Hospital, nutrition, and medicine- these little ones will experience life and health very soon.

I am blessed and thankful for the small part I had in loving these babies today.  Please join me in praying for this family and these 2 sweet children.

All glory to God for the work that is being done here in Guatemala!
