This year, my Aunt and I have started classes with some of the children and adults from Kelly’s house. We work one-on-one each afternoon with the students, teaching them anything from simply picking up a crayon to writing their own name. I have a total of nine students that I work with each week, from ages 8 to 23. I never imagined that they would capture such a big part of my heart!

Kelly’s house is a beautiful home that Hope of Life has created for those with special needs. So many of these children wouldn’t have anywhere to go otherwise. It is so important for them to know how important they are and that God has a plan and a purpose for each one of their lives (Jeremiah 29:11).

Over a month has gone by, and I have already seen growth. Kids who entered the classroom afraid and unsure are now laughing and interacting. Though a majority of my students are non-verbal, we are communicating by the grace of God. It is amazing to discover what each student loves, and to do my best to help them find purpose in that. It is a blessing to pray over them, and give them that special attention that they so desperately need.

Would you commit to praying for these children and adults? Pray for their health, growth, and joy! Would you pray for us? Pray that we would grow and research and learn to be able to most effectively help our students. Thank you so much!
