“I have not greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.” 3 John 1:4

Every Saturday morning, Chris and I jump on our four-wheeler and zoom down the road to the church in Hope of Life village where we have a special service just for the children. When we arrive, the children are waiting outside for us to unlock the door and start Sunday school. Seeing them at the door, anxiously waiting to come into the church brings such joy to our hearts! We begin the service by singing songs like Jesus loves me (Cristo me amo) and The Salvation Poem (Poema de Salvacion). The children will boldly volunteer to come forward and lead the group in song and will volunteer to pray for each other and the service. One of the older children will typically read a story from the Bible. Then, we will start a movie, which is the part they are most anxiously waiting for– watching the next episode of SuperBook (Superlibro)! These children have fallen in love with Jesus through the Bible journey of Chris, Joy and Gizmo! They are gaining knowledge as these movies journey through the Bible each week to find answers to questions they have about every day challenges. These truths are showing the children how the knowledge of the Bible will help them to make the right decisions in everyday life. As these children learn at a young age to understand God’s word they will be more likely to obey it as they continue to grow into teens and adults.

These children are brothers, sisters, neighbors, and friends. They live together, go to church together, go to school together and play together. They experience the joys of life together and the struggles of living in poverty together. We pray as the Lord works in the hearts of these little ones that they will encourage each other, love each other and grow to love the Lord together. We pray that they will know the Lord and His love for them and realize their worth through this love.

If you are a part of a village transformation here in Guatemala, Chris and I recommend investing in Superbook and a projector for your church! All the videos have the option of watching in Spanish. They are captivating and adventurous and are sure to be loved by the children in your village!
