Last week, in our transition class at the Village of Transformation preschool, we talked about different careers. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I asked. The children and I explored careers of all kinds, from a Firefighter to a Doctor to an Artist. My uncle Mark came to share his story about what it’s like to be an Electrician here at Hope of Life. We learned about famous artists like Michelangelo, and the kids painted their own murals on the ‘ceiling’ (bottom of the table)! We looked at pictures of astronauts exploring space across the universe. With each career we learned about that day, it was important they knew that their biggest dreams were possible!

More importantly, I told these sweet children that God has a plan bigger and better for their futures than we could ever imagine. Nothing and no one can take that away from them, because they are children of God, and with Him, anything is possible. Everything we receive is a blessing from Him, and we want to live for His glory, not our own.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” {Matthew 7:7}

Looking around the room that Friday, I realized I was sitting amongst five future world changers. God has taken each and every one of their broken stories, and He has made them beautiful in the way that only God can. Now they will grow up to be a chef, doctor, firefighter, pastor, policeman, or anything else God calls them to be. Then they will share their stories with others.

“To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue. All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” {Proverbs 16:1-3}
