We just finished celebrating Holy Week in Guatemala. Just about everyone in this country goes to the beach, lakes, rivers or pools during this holiday. We started the week off by taking some of our kids from Kelly’s House, the special needs home, swimming in the pool. So much joy.. a little bit of fear.. and then lots of splashes. It’s amazing how much fun can be had with a water gun! We may have accidentally squirted a couple of friends!

Then we had a pool party/Easter celebration with our Hope of Life Preschool. We have little plastic kiddie pools that we set up and the kids thought it was a water park. I am always overwhelmed during times like these at how much we take for granted. We have six new children at the preschool and this was the first time for some of them going swimming. I looked at two of the boys and they were literally wallowing down in the five inches of water. If there is such a thing as too much joy, these kids were suffering from it. We followed with the Easter story. I loved hearing the preschoolers tell me how Jesus died on the cross but came back from the dead and now He lives! Cristo no está muerto, El está vivo! I think these kids understand what it’s all about…
