In life we have rare and unique opportunities to see the Gospel exemplified in real ministries. Our child rescue program is one of those opportunities where we’re afforded a glimpse of what Christ did for us when he sacrificed everything on the cross. As we go into the celebration of Semana Santa, the Holy Week here in Guatemala- we are living in remembrance of the way that He rescued us 2000 years ago.

By rescuing others with same living, breathing Gospel.

This week has been no different. On Saturday we sped into the mountains before dawn with a single intent- to find and rescue 12 children who were in a battle for their lives. Babies who are barely 2 months old, tipping the scales at a desperate 4 pounds- half the weight they should have been at birth. These children have bellies swollen with hunger, they have sickness invading every space of their body, and they have never understood the concept of hope- only survival. Those were the children we were rushing to.

The picture rarely gets clearer than that. We are rescuing those who cannot rescue themselves, in the same way we were rescued. This is the beauty of the Gospel. That for no reason other than the desire to make Christ known, we are stepping out and reaching into hundreds of homes with the gift of life. In this is where we see Christ’s glory displayed- in 4×4 trucks that crawl into mountains, in canoes laden with babies desperate to reach the other side, in hospital beds and corridors where children are given hope and families are given peace that the battle might have just been won.

There is a reason we were given life through the cross. It was so that we could know Christ and share His love with others. That can’t happen when lives are being lost before we can even reach them with the Gospel. This is why we believe in a practical Gospel, to never meet a physical need without meeting a spiritual need.

At the close of each day, our hope is that we’ve done that very thing. We’ve rescued lives and given them the opportunity to know Christ… because He deserves those for which He died.

This Easter week, we want you to join our mission in the mountains.  The cost for rescuing 12 children is nearly $15,000.  The costs increasing if any of these children suffer from chronic illnesses or special needs.

Would you consider helping the children that were rescued this Easter week?

We will never stop rescuing until there are no more hungry children of Guatemala, but we cannot do that without you.

If you would like to be a part of this rescue story, visit our website here and donate to this incredible ministry happening every day.

Thank you for your support, for your friendship, and for your partnership in ministry. We are blessed to celebrate our Savior’s death, resurrection, and rescue with you this year.
