Every year, the students at Tuolumne Elementary School, in Modesto, California plan a school-wide coin drive, and fundraise to benefit a charity.  This year, they decided to help children in Guatemala, and after much consideration, chose to partner up with Hope of Life. As they heard of the great need in Guatemala, they made it their mission to make the biggest impact possible, and so, decided they wanted to rescue a baby from extreme poverty.

As Mrs. Decoutu (one of their favorite teachers) explained to them how “there are many sick babies high in the mountains of Guatemala”, their little hearts broke, but became determined to save the life of a baby in need.

“They never once questioned the possibility of being able to raise the money…and they were right”, said Mrs. Decouto.

Their coin drive started in March, letters went out to parents of each student, and their coins began to come in. These amazing little students, with generous, big hearts, watched as week by week they got closer and closer to their goal—by April 13th they had reached all $1,200!

These precious students did not let anything hold them back from making a difference, and with a little help from their parents and teachers, they can now say they helped save the life of a baby in poverty.

Thank you to all the students, parents, and teachers from Tuolumne Elementary school for their “Saving Lives With Big Hearts” campaign—you are all part of the Hope of Life Family!
